October 20 2023
Congratulations to Sophie St-Louis who was awarded, on October 19 in Victoriaville, the 2023 Order of Agronomic Merit Award, the highest distinction of the Ordre des agronomes du Québec, following the first day of the OAQ Congress.
It was therefore during this evening that Viridis Environnement learned that the application she had submitted to the Order allowed Sophie to be selected through a rigorous peer evaluation process. The jury recognized his exceptional potential, his significant contribution to his field and to the advancement of the reputation of the profession.
“Sophie is a passionate, caring woman and deeply committed to her profession, both scientifically and socially. An exceptional, creative and energetic woman, her deep commitment to the protection, improvement, restoration and preservation of the environmental environment is undeniable,” said Michel St-Germain, Deputy CEO and Simon Naylor, Vice President Development and Energy at Viridis.
We cannot introduce the agronomist and biologist Sophie St-Louis other than by qualifying her as a key player in the fertilizer residual materials (MRF) recovery sector in Quebec. The research, development and communication/training work that it has carried out over the past two decades has propelled Viridis Environnement to the rank of Quebec and Canadian leader in MRF recycling while contributing to the improvement of practices and supervision in the entire sector.
At the turn of the 2000s, Sophie St-Louis began her career by making environmental protection her main focus. Wanting to “make a difference”, in his own words, it is his long-standing interest in recycling and better waste management that attracts him to the MRF field.
During all these years, the young agronomist has continued to deepen her expertise to benefit the entire sector via the committees where she sits and the working groups where she is called upon. Indeed, the combination of its knowledge of the challenges in the field as well as its mastery of the smallest regulatory and normative aspects governing the valorization of MRFs in Quebec makes it an essential reference in the field. The extent and quality of his achievements are recognized by his peers and by prestigious organizations.
Senior executive and sitting around the table of Viridis Environnement's senior management, and present since its creation, Sophie St-Louis, is one of the founding pillars of the organization. Thanks to her professionalism, dedication and extreme rigor, she has undoubtedly been a major contributor to the success of Viridis.
The impact and influence of his professional achievements are directly at the heart of today's major environmental challenges. Issues that occupy and concern actors from all walks of life. It has greatly contributed to a change in perception of the potential of MRFs by showing that they can be recycled in a safe and beneficial way thanks to a strict and careful framework for their use. Its research and continuous improvement of processes has allowed Viridis Environnement to divert more residual materials from landfill year after year for the benefit of farmers, in a controlled framework with maximum rigor and traceability.
Sophie knows how to popularize complex processes well by taking clear examples or drawing analogies in order to adapt to the different people she should contact.
Finally, what you need to remember about Sophie St-Louis is her unwavering commitment to the environment. She doesn't care if the progress made or the changes made are named after her, what matters to her is the result. She does not seek the spotlight and therefore works more often than not in a supporting role, gladly attributing the successes achieved to the teams she is a part of. Recognizing the importance of his contribution to the MRF community, this demonstration of humility is to his credit!
Viridis would like to take a moment to express its gratitude to him for his inspiring involvement in this great team. His incredible work ethic and integrity are now known and recognized not only at Viridis, but beyond all communities.
All of her colleagues join senior management in extending our heartfelt congratulations to this most dynamic woman!
