Since 2011, Viridis Environmental professionals have been working hard at the Lake Asbestos Mine site at Black Lake, Quebec. They are developing effective techniques for rebuilding soils and for the phytoremediation of chrysotile mine tailings heaps.

The project will help sequester appreciable quantities of CO2 in the forest biomass, and will stabilize the soil’s carbon. That carbon potentially could otherwise be lost in the atmosphere if the MRFs used to rebuild the soils were instead buried or incinerated.
