Valorization of the Red Mill bog: Viridis is pleased to participate in this initiative through the CMI Green Fund

August 2013, Beloeil – A $15,000 contribution out of the CMI Green Fund has just been made to Nature-Action Québec for the acquisition and development of the Déziel property to make it part of the magnificent Red Mill bog site.

The Déziel property is more than 41 ha nestled right in the heart of the Red Mill bog in the municipality of Trois-Rivières. The property’s acquisition will help ensure the protection of a key element in biodiversity.

The project’s objectives are as follows:

  • maintain the integrity of the exceptional Red Mill bog wetlands and forest ecosystems, and protect them in perpetuity;
  • create a natural reserve in the privately-owned Déziel property;
  • foster the maintenance of biodiversity, in particular the endangered birds, amphibians and reptiles, as well as vegetation; and
  • valorize the territory and increase public awareness about the importance of wetlands.
